first trip out 3 problems

Post by cascais »

My wife has just come back from a 400 mile trip on our campers first long run.she brought the van back with an oil leak, coolent leak, and the oil from being nice and clear after recent oil change,to being black and smelling burnt. The oil leak looks like its coming from the bottom where the engine and gearbox join, doesnt drip when cold only hot.any ideas?the coolent leak is from rubber pipe that runs the whole length of van,is there anyway i can patch it,rather than buy new hose, its only a little pin holethat only leaks when there is pressure in system?Im not sure why the oil has gone from clear to black so soon? The engine starts and runs fine, even with these probs, any one any ideas with any of my problems? Its a petrol 1.9 digi

if its a diesel, new oil does go black pretty quick. as for the hose, i'd want to replace it for peace of mind. Good luck :ok

on your van front / rear hoses should be steel , but they rust and get bodged / repaired with rubber

replacing antifreeze every 2 years stops internal engine corrosion , but the metal pipes rust outside in!

either fit new stainless or used plastic if you want a long term fix or just bodge it again to keep your van going a bit longer.
