Tell me about Multivan beds
I'm still looking for a correct Caravelle bed, but am beginning to lose hope of ever finding one, and so have turned my attention towards the multivan bed. But before I go out and commit to buying one, I need a couple of questions answered. Can anyone help with these queries?
I appreciate that if you fit a multivan bed, you must also fit the correct side panels, otherwise you end up with a gap at either end. But do the side panels from a LHD van fit a RHD one? I'm just referring to the bed side panels here, not the middle panel with the table.
Does the seat come with the extra third panel - that makes up the bed?
Do you still need to build up the area over the engine compartment, to make the whole thing level throughout?
What are they like to sleep on?
And last but not least - what colours did they come in? I've only ever seen blue ones.....

Re: Tell me about Multivan beds
Ive just fitted a multivan bed with out the side panels, by making an adaptor for the original pin mounts,as you say you end up with a gap, but nothing major.
One of the side panels would fit but the otherside (table) would have to be butchered to fit in reverse, plus you would have to move the pin mounts.
They dont need any building up over the engine bay as long as you have the correct multivan matress which makes up the complete bed. And theyre really quite spacious and comfortable.
They come in grey/blue diaganol, Brown/beige tight check and a grey tight check. The panels come in grey or tan.

Re: Tell me about Multivan beds
That Multivan interior is way different to mine as my bench seat bolts to the floor via a sheet steel bracket on which the seat hinges mount.

Mine bolts to the side as the one in the thread does. I think there are varying differences in multivan interiors.

Hi I'm have been trying to fit my multivan rear bench seat today in my caravelle i'm not really that bothered about the gap and it would seem that mine appears to be the same as yours (description based)
Anyway I have placed the seat in the position marked and drilled the holes but the hole towards the back is right where the main cross member holding the rear suspension arm meaning i cant get a fixing on it......Any ideas or do you have photos of yours fitted to give me a clue in fitting, In fact any help would be good here......

Thanks Jason

Re: Tell me about Multivan beds
Mine has those brackets too, hard to see in this light, but i reckon mine probably are hidden by the chassis too. i think mine will most likely have a fixed thread in the floor seeing as it's a genuine multivan, maybe you could use a rivnut for the ones with no access underneath?

Re: Tell me about Multivan beds
multivan hinges, normally not seen, fitted to the out side of the sheet metel frame work that bolts to the floor, as fitted to my doka
