Help! How to get to Dover on 28 July

I have been trying to find a way out of West London to get to Dover on Saturday and keep finding my way blocked with Olympic restrictions and events. Has anybody found a way to do it that doesn't involve going North and getting a ferry to Denmark? Cheers

Depending on where you are in west london, I would head for victoria then onto camberwell.From camberwell follow signs for peckham then new cross then onto lewisham.Once your in lewisham on on the A20 which leads straight onto m20 straight to dover.I did this trip in my 1980 Aircooled from park lane london W1 and took this route which took me 2hrs and that was leaving at 13:30 and was home in folkestone at 15:45

get up at a decent time and leave before the restrictions start
or go the night before

head west and hit M25, go around anticlockwise till you get to the sign for the M20 and away you go.....its the only way,,,,ask any mini cab driver or black cab...its more miles but much quicker and less fuel..in a strange way

That's the way I was thinking too Terry, we always go that way. The south circ comes up as route of choice on satnav but it's sooooo slow!!!

Cheers for the tip. I talked this through with Mike (you know him Travellingchick) the day before and he advised the same. He reckoned it adds another 60+ miles to a journey that would otherwise be about just 80+. That seems crazy and I hate the M25, but hey I will have to use it just to escape stalag London and cross the Thames. Madness. Luckily we don't get the ferry until Sunday morning so we will get there.

Yes it's definitely more miles but at least you're moving, hopefully, at a steady speed and not stop/start all the way.
