carb problems.

hello.
have a 1600ct engine with solex 34 carb.
the engine ticks over nice and steady but when you put on any pressure on the accelerator the engine cuts out.
any ideas cheers sam

Sounds like a fuel issue:

have you changed the fuel filters?
give the carb a quick spray with carb cleaner in case of any muck in there.
check the coil is giving a good strong spark
check and gaps and clean spark plugs
are the HT leads in good condition?

hi,
changed leads got new coil and changed filter also changed plugs havent spray cleaned carb yet will try this weekend. would the engine not tick over though if it was uncleaned jet.do you spray the carb inside etc if so how.

Reads like an air leak to me.
vac lines, gaskets, servo hose, distributor...
