There's no debate - they're all cr@p in side winds and when being overtaken by three storey coaches on the motorway

High top for me too- I simply can't travel light and prefer everything being tucked away neatly up top when we travel so I'm not sitting with bags at my feet or don't have to move stuff around for a quick over nighter. I do think the high tops have a 'charm' of their own, at the end of the day the T25 isn't the prettiest of vans anyway but have a character of their own.
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems but it will p.iss off enough people to make it worth the effort

:ok thanks guys your advice is a great help. I do love the storage and how the van seems un cluttered even with all my wind breaks and camping tables and anything else I might need. My shed is a lot tidier too  as its all now in the van. Think I will live with her for a year or too and if I get the urge for a Poptop in the future if hight restrictions are a problem then so be it. :ok

Webbs on a rather different note - and assuming it is your van in the avatar - where on the side is that blue line painted? Is it in the door channel or above / below it?

the key is to work at not carrying too much junk.
when we first bought our van we spen every weekend at Go outdoors.....filling the van up as we went.

for the last 2 years we have steadily sold off all the surplus....it makes for a much better package...and enables you to do what the vans are meant to do.....be flexible and fast (to set-up / pack away)

Had all three,

Tin top - great as a daily driver and for a day out

Pop top - I found really annoying on a ten day touring holiday, was forever putting stuff up top then down again to move on.

High top - great for the longer trips and having all that extra storage is a billy bonus.

Personally I wouldn't have a pop top again. I now have a tin top and high top.

Before anyone comes in and disagrees with me.............this is my own opinion, each to their own preference, there is no right or wrong!

Personally....I like the compromise that is the pop top.

Sleek and sporty lines

Spacious ......with the added bonus of the canvass feel

Ability to drive anywhere.....like morrisons car park

And super quick to pop ...or unpop.

And.......great in this hot weather as you get the benefit of zipped windows to really let the air blow thru.

LeeME3 wrote:This question does exercise my mind a fair bit (note to self: get out more). I love the look of my tintop and as a day / weekend van the lack of headroom doesn't fuss me at all and me and my 2 girsl sleep in it quite happily. But I'm loving the van sooooo much I know I'm going to end up using it more than I envisaged (a good thing, of course) so then start to wonder about retro-ftting a hightop...can't justify the cost of retrofitting a pop top but there are very good high top options for £1000-£1500.

But then I think I really don't want to cut up a tin top - after all every time someone does that there is one less tintop in the world....

So then i think I could swap it for a pop / high top van...but she seems to be a good un and she's 'mine'! (Emotional attachment to a van, honeslty man get a grip!)

So then i think I could maybe buy another as well...but that's plain daft...and expensive...twice the MOTs / insurance / tax etc - and with my luck I'd buy a dog.

Aaaaarrrrggghhhh decisions decisions...

Meanwhile I'll just carry on using her as she is and think about it!

I've had my tin top for nearly 5 years...and for nearly 5 years have ummed and ahhed about fitting a pop top; I even bought one and stored it on top of my dads shed for 3 years because I couldn't make my mind up. I now know I'll never cut a hole in my van, I'd rather chop the bottom off my legs!

I couldnt cope with a tin top. too tall for that, but dont have a preference really between pops and high, as long as you get away in it, alls good :ok
