Good specialist VW garages in the NE

Post by wbmkk »

My campervan (1989 California) had a bit of bother yesterday and was towed by the AA to my local garage, (see my other post under mechanical).

Now the garage has phoned and suggested I take it to a specialist VW campervan garage, but didn't know any names. They suggested I look up the yellow pages.

They said that turbo diesel engines can run on oil only and eventually can speed up until everything goes pop. I have just looked up on the internet and this seems to be diesel engineer runaway. If I wasn't scared before, I am now. (scared for the van and scared for my wallet)

It would seem better for me to ask in a specialist forum.

I am in Whitley Bay .. is there any good(reliable and fair) garage in Tyne & Wear, or Northumberland ?

Many thanks !
