Need help with fuel pipe sizes for new electric fuel pump

Post by morzov »

I've got a 2.0 T25 Aircooled with a mechanical fuel pump that is misbehaving -leaking oil from the vent pipe .

So I've decided to upgrade to an electric fuel pump.

What I'm not sure about is what size fuel pipes to use because the existing set up with the mechanical pump uses about 3 different sizes of fuel pipe - one of them being a fairly narrow hard plastic pipe which runs for the majority of the length under the van.

Am I right in thinking that from the outflow of the new electric pump I can use just one size of pipe all the way back to the carburetors and if so what size should it be?

Thanks in advance :ok

You need 7mm hose between the tank and the pump. 5.5mm to connect the pump to the hard plastic line.

Cheers for the reply .

Just to be clear would that mean the following;

Tank to filter -keep existing pipe
Filter to electric pump 7mm (I assume that's internal diameter)
Electric pump to hard line 5.5mm

Then I'll have to also use something to bridge the gap in fuel line where the old mech pump was because the new elec pump goes nearer the tank?
