Emergency breakdown in Maidenhead! Advice Please

Post by chuggers72 »

Morning All - Hopefully someone can point me to sorting my van - I know I can rely on the 80-90 forum!

I am stranded in Maidenhead, Berks halfway to Bug Jam from Plymouth! I ve got an issue with my cooling system - first the temp gauge started to wander in and out of hot - then the heating started to blow cold, then the buzzer sounded. I pulled over, waters boiling in the tank, radiators cold. I had no tools (note to self : carry tools) so called the RAC - he took out the thermostat (made no diff), wasnt sure if the water pump was working properly (looked like it was working intermittantly), tried to bleed air from the rad (but did not know how to ) so I got towed to my dads! Hence I need some advice or if anyone knows a good mechanic nr Maidenhead let me know.
I would search WIKI but ive got a dodgy intenet connection and its taken me 20 mins to get this on

Cheers Gareth

There's an air bleed valve on top of the radiator. There's also one on the engine (somewhere) but I think most folk just use the rad one. That's ALL I know, sorry  Not got a Haynes manual?

If your internet connection is that dicky I'd pop your phone number on

Got a Haynes but its 200 miles away :x

Been having a tinker - bled the air - rad started to warm up but only warm. Just been given a number for a garage in Maidenhead - the owners got a T25! Dropping it down there in the next hour - helpless without my tools!
