Electrolux RM 212. Not lighting

My fridge won't light up. (Works on 12v and 240v). I've taken it out and put a temporary (and safe) connection to the gas supply so I could work on it out of the cupboard area. Ive also cleaned the jet (blew it through, it was already clear though. Anyway, gas is getting to the tap/switch/control button but not coming out. I was wondering if the tap itself could develop a fault or if a faulty thermo coupling could cause this problem. I disconnected the thermo coupling from the tap and used a gas lighter at the burner whilst holding the tap button in. Nothing! The igniter sparks away quite happily.
Any advice welcomed. btw, I've looked in WIKI and tech archive but can't find the answer.

Mine had fine dust in the pipe to the jet that moved to block the jet as soon as the gas tried to flow. I removed the pipe and blew out the dust and also gave it a good blast through with WD40 - it has been fine since. Also some pipes have a small filter inserted (like a cigarette filter) to cut down the chances of this happening.
Another thing that I have heard of is that the knob that you press in doesn't go far enough in to open the gas valve - a wodge of paper inside the knob will bring it out far enough to open it - if it is this you should be able to remove the knob and use pliers to hold it in to test it.

Thanks for reply. I've blown it all through and all seems clear. I took the knob off and pushed the "spindle" right in. It does appear to be a stoppage/blockage in the valve/control thing behind the knob. Where all the pipes go into.

Clear as mud!! I'm still convinced it may be a blockage, or possibly a fault with the valve/switch. Although looking at the reply I suppose it could be something else, such as you suggest. Just can't understand why there is no gas escape with all the "outlet" pipes from the switch/valve disconnected.
