Gearbox drain plug

This is what my gearbox drain plug looked like when I recently changed the oil. Amongst the furry debris is a single ball bearing 5.5mm diameter and what looks like part of wire clip 50mm long. I've no idea when the oil was last changed as i've only had my 1990 T25 1.9 DG six months. The gearbox runs really smoothly with no problem getting any of the gears [5 speed box ]

Anyone got an idea what the bits might be ? and should I start saving for a G.box overhaul?

I've heard that the drain plug can look like a Christmas tree but mine has a bauble on!

start saving
big head and sludgy stem = worn main bearing
ball bearing is part of a selector rod bearing as is the pressed steel bit and the wire is either part of the 1st and reverse synchro or part of one of the other two synchros

Thanks for info Aidan..will start to save for a rebuild.
Got a few more trips planned in next couple of months so fingers crossed it will last a few more miles. Paul
