Hi I have discovered my van has a steady oil leak. I'm after some advice the van has been converted from original 1.6td Jx to 1.9td aaz. The leak is coming from the sump. When the conversion was done the original turbo oil return pipe location was kept in the block. The return port in the sump has been blanked by some cobbled together welded nut. That is where she is leaking from.
When I have looked most people doing this conversion keep the return to the sump and blank off the one in the AAZ block. This seems more sensible to me.
2 questions really
1) If i fit the return to the sump what are the part numbers for the pipe I will need and what size bolt to blank the block?
2) If i stick to this arrangment what size bolt is required for the return pipe port on the sump?
Put the return in to the sump, and get a block bung from brickwerks (cost about £5) any hydrulic place will be able to make a pipe for you for about £30, now the genuine return pipe had an adpater that went into the sump and then the return screwed onto that, problem is the flare VW used is not used anymore so the place that made mine supplied me with a new insert aswell

Great thanks. Don't suppose you know the length and thread size of pipe. I know a local firm who would make one. Could I just take the old one along with me do you reckon? Although the one on my van would be too short I would think as it runs from turbo to block.

I fitted a 1Z in mine, i took the standard return pipe in to them, they used the turbo part (on mine its a 2 bolt flange) and i also took in the adpater that screwed into the sump, i needed it to be 11 inches from the turbo outlet end to the flare on the adpater (hope that makes sence?) it may be a better idea (i couldnt as mine as in bits) to take the 25 in to the place and show them what pipe you want them to make and they will measure it and make it so all you have to do is fit it once

thankyou very much. Brickwerks sell the pipes as well as the blanking nut you described. I will have to call them to see if I need any other bits or have a quick look on etka. thanks for the swift reply. Steven.
