Sand/wet blasting?

Cooper, have you actually done any grit blasting? It bounces around all over the place and will blast skin as well as underseal and old paint. You'll need protective clothing that can stand that kind of abuse. You also don't want to be breathing in all the muck and grit produced.. I've used grit blasters right from tiny spot versions up to heavy industrial ones blasting the hull on ships standing on a cherry-picker and they're merciless. The latter experience is one I will not forget.

Shouldn't be to bad. + if it did happen to hit my skin (not like I'm just going to wear a bikini) then the pain will probably be the same as a jet was on the skin.

I've got a small kit for blasting seams and if you are patient it does a pretty good job but incredibly messy.
Compressor is 100L and 14cfm and has to run constantly to keep up, anything smaller forget it for big jobs.

If you are trying to remove underseal etc, buy a 2 speed heat gun and a few cheap chisels.
A lot less mess and easier on yourself and the neighbours.

Only reason to get a blaster yourself would be if you're doing welding repairs and want to blast the innerds of seams etc once taken apart. If I just wanted to blast the underneath of the van, I'd prep it well (ie tape up all of the bits I don't want blasted) and bring it to a pro who will do the dirty work for not a lot of money.

Cooper ..... I know you wont listen but Im going to tell you anyway. Two years ago I bailed a friend out and bought his Soda Blasting company. The kit I have now have was carefully assembled for the car restoration business. The compressor is an Atlas Copco XAHS 107 and is just about big enough for the job at 200cfm and 90psi. It weighs two tonnes dry! The swirl pot takes two 25kg bags of soda. It takes a minimum of ten bags to do the outside of a Mini - double that to do the whole thing. It takes eight hours to do a Mini. If you dont wear the proper safety gear you will choke very badly as the dust from the blasting process is very fine indeed and it gets everywhere. It wont hurt your skin but the air pressure will.
