Cb radio!

Post by Cooper »

Ok so I have a cb but I don't want to fit it to my van.

So I'm looking into a handheld cb.

Anyone have a handheld in their van?

What make do you recommend ?

Can I boat marine cb that will work on land? as I will be doing some sailing as well.

Chances are if you get seen holding a hand held whilst driving. The law will think you are using a mobile phone. And you will get pulled.T.B.H. Im pretty certain its illegal to use one whilst driving anyway.

Well I know that using a normal cb isn't illegal so I think that's the same for the handheld.
But yes probably getting pulled over a lot will happen.

Hand held CB in a van will have RUBBISH range as most of the van is metal ! They have poor range anyway due to the short aerial. Using it whilst driving is definitely illegal.

Also are you confusing Marine band handhelds with CB radio hand helds. They are totally different things. You need a licence for a Marine radio and it is illegal to use them on land or inland waterways.

Sources = I owned the CB radio / Electronics shop in Chester for around 20 years.
Got a new van, but it's a 165bhp T4 [shock horror] Accurate LPG Station map here
