Anyone with an Autosleeper who can advise on leisure batt?
Hi,
Does anyone have an autosleeper, with fridge and propex heater as well as a leisure battery? I'm after information on how these are all wired up.
I've posted before about leaisure battery wiring, everyone's been really helpful, but I still haven't got the confidence to do it myself yet. I thought maybe if I could hear from other autosleeper owners I might be able to copy exactly how they are wired up.
Keen but nervous!

Kev, thanks for replying so promptly. The best thing, if possible, would be to see a couple of photos. One showing your main battery and one showing the leisure battery, and some info on what each wire is connected to.
I realise this is a lot to ask. If so, just info on what is connected to each battery and how the leisure battery is wired for split charging.
Hope this makes sense.

Hi there I have autosleeper, it has a split charger in the zig unit but it is pants, so I wired up a second charger with a big thick copper wire going from one battery to the other via a solenoid, a few quid from Maplins get a nice beefy one with lots of amps does 10 or 20Amp sound about right guys? any way I took the signal to tell the solenoid to close and allow charge to flow between batteries from the existing fridge solenoid under the drivers seat. put a fuse near the driving battery side again chunky stuff like. DONT be tempted to jump start another vehicle off your leisure battery or you will most likely melt that fuse! (ask me how I know)

Kev, I've seen the diagram on wiki, but just can't get my head round actually doing it on the van. On mine there 2 sets of wires, besides the normal wiring you expect to se on a battery, connected to my main battery, one is for the propox, the other is the fridge and the control panel combined. Am I right in thinking that the only connection I need to make form the leisure battery, besides the earth, is to the relay switch on the fuse box? If so, what ampage wire should I use? What represents the control panel on the diagram?
Hacksawbob, what's the story with jumpstarting another vehicle from your leisure battery??
Thanks for replying.

Kev,
You're a star. That's the best diagram I've seen on this. What I'm going to do is take all the wires off my main battery, except the chunky ones that connect it to the starter motor(?) and alternator, and put them on the leisure battery, then run a 35 amp amp wire with a 30 amp fuse on it from the leisure battery to the relay. I won't forget to connect an earth strap.
Please let me know if I've missed anything.
Cheers
