Holes and gaps do affect idling and power. To what extent depends how bad and where. Try a temporary bandage repair to see what difference it makes to running. In my experience, v-dubs HATE leaks, both on induction side and exhaust and certainly trying to tune an engine with either or both is frustrating and somewhat pointless. Whether thats the actual cause or a contributory one can only be gleaned by a process of elimination. They do like a bit of back pressure for sure.

Im my experience, yes, a leaky exhaust can indeed cause idle issues, and can also cause other problems such as backfiring, and use more fuel.

Give the area a good wire brushing before pasting it, also after wire brushing, wipe any dust etc away first. Also in my experience in repairing my exhaust system, the paste is only a temp fix, and has only lasted me a couple of weeks in-between repairs. Plan on getting a complete new system, but funds not allowing me to just yet sadly.

No probs Rob, but as I say mate, that paste is only a temp fix, and only good for a couple of weeks mate. I have to take Flint for his test tomorrow, the MOT type test you have in the UK. I hope my paste fix gets me through. New system is on the cards, but along with a new suspension system its going to break the bank next month.

yeah will be replacing that as soon as funds permit. that's the only pipe I have left to replace now all other pipes are new within the last six months or so trust the one that's £200 to go now as well thought I was pretty solid.

dood luck with your test tommorow sure all will be fine
