van just starting to turn over several times before starting - checked when last had a new battery ( April 2005 ! ) so reckon its about time for a new one - 89 2.1 watercooled Holdsworth - do Halfords do one ? Any particular battery recommended ?

Halfrauds are particularly expensive for batteries and most giving advice about them on here will say go for the biggest you can get in the battery box so that adds extra expense but well worth it.
Look for a battery with the size code '100' this size is only 175mm tall which is what you need.
