Alternator belt snapped (JX)!

Post by Mr Soft »

Going away for the weekend, got 4 miles from home & battery & temp lights came on! Pulled over asap & noticed steam pouring out of the back end! Found alternator belt wrapped around bottom pulley (pump) alternator is not seized, also found coolant boiling. Got recovered, to local garage, so awaiting diagnosis, fingures crossed!

Regularly serviced, but now got a new belt & no damage to the engine, so fingers crossed!
Original belt looked ok, apart from where it snapped, only thing I can think of is the tension wasn't correct & has snagged on something?

Once they start to slip a little they soon fall to peices. A very nice man from the RAC changed mine on the side of the M40 a few weeks back.
