Hi guys n gals
T25 1.9 DG engine. 1986
We have isolated it to be oil coming from the Breather Housing and Breather Hose. There was more of a push than a suction from the hose with some oil vapour.
what can I do to repair this?
Cheers

Re: Oil in Air Filter
Nothing it's quite normal
just ensure your breather hose is not kinked and the breather tower is not blocked

Re: Oil in Air Filter
I am getting about an inch of oil in the air box and filter in about 2 months
normal?
It cant be good for the engine to have oil going from air filter to the carb and engine block etc..
One friend says I need to re-bore and re-ring the engine or replace the engine outright, hence my surprise with your sentence of normal.
I would be over the moon is this is not a real issue.

I can only comment on what you post...
Now you decide to divulge more specific information.
So now I can say it's not normal.
If your crank case is getting pressurised from combustion blowing past the rings, then your friend is correct, in his saying a re ring will be needed.
A dry cylinder pressure check, followed by a wet cylinder pressure check, will determine this.
Over filling with oil, I would think, produce oil in the airbox.
The breather tower collects/traps oil vapour and allows it to drip back into the engine, is this working OK.

Re: Oil in Air Filter
when I bought my van nearly 3 years ago one of the first things I did was change oil and filter, air filter etc, when the airfilter was lifted out I noticed bit of oil in the bottom of the filter housing,I removed it degreased the whole assembly and refitted, have not had a drop of oil in it since, bone dry,is this ok??,she runs sweet as a nut,an excellent motor

kevtherev I apologise if I came off rude, I was just surprised.
I thought my initial was enough, but obviously I didn't.
Thank you for your patience.
I will try to get the cylinder pressure check done.

I am aware that it has been over filled with oil at some point before I owned it. and recently the dipstick can undone, so I may have also over filled it, before i realised the dipstick was not connected.
the breather hose has some oil residue in the tower end, and spits out a fine oily mist at the airbox end, does that help?
