bitchy and no help to author

actually - I didn't see it as bitchy. Remember, there are some newbies around who wouldn't know, and take everything on here as gospel. Silly as it seems, sometimes there is the necessity to correct. We all store info away, and I believe it is better to correct than leave an incorrect post on the board.

Now...play nicely boys, or I shall have to bang your heads together!!

Have you tried Nigel Allen at St Columb? His contact number is 01726 890300. He only works on VW's (bays, T25, Karmens, etc), Audis and Porche. Took mine there having ruined a pushrod (bent it!!) and buring oils - lost 1 cylinder and was maxing 20mph on the flat to get to the garage. He has a big workshop set-up with a mountain of spares. If you're in Pool it shouldn't take long to get to him on the A30 - take the St Mawgan/ Airport road to St Columb, drive past Pall and the petrol station on your RHS, then take the next left downa small country lane and his workshop is next to the (only) cottage on THE side of the raod. Mind the guard dog - noisy but very friendly.

After a day in the workshop having had a full engine service and engine repairs the van flew (eased of at 80mph on the A30 and continued at a stedy 55-60 with pleasure). Unfortunately I no longer have my van, or a replacement, but wouldn't hesitate in returnong to him. He works on word of mouth and does not advertise. The guy is extrememly knowledgable and friendly - he didn't laugh too much as I pulled into the yard.
It's only money....

Hi,

I would not go anywhere near Nigel Allen if I were you! In my opinion he's bloody useless! - read my previous postings and you will find out why! In a nutshell he didn't have a clue as to what was wrong with the engine he fitted in my van - 3 years and the engine he fitted has never run smooth etc etc.

I would recommend a guy I've just found in Breage...I found him by word of mouth from two mechanics - his name is Nick 07779928380 or 07800507208
He knows what he is talking about and he won't rip you off! :ok

Avoid Nigel Allen and any other self proclaimed "VW specialist"
