Thanks for the link! It seems its very hard to do... also there is a tool from VW, the VAG 3053, a reducing tube, to reduce the outside diameter... I was this morning talking to a friend who owns a shop to make tools (lathes and so on), but it seems to make that is not cheap... :|

just make the tool yourself it can be easily fitted with a length of threaded bar and some urathane spacers so it does not damage bush and plenty of lubricant

As he said ^^^ pull it in with some threaded bar and large washes...plenty of rubber grease will help.

Well,

I DID IT!! :ok :ok

I had the front trailing arm outside, so with the help of hydraulic press and my "special tool" was really easy. If you need more details I can explain how I did it and tell you the "special tool" I used... It's so easy!!! :rofl

I'd post pics if I were you. This question comes up a lot and it would help explain whats involved. I do know you have to drag bush through the hole a bit more than you think to allow it to spring back in just the right spot. Also helps to use threaded bar/buts that are tougher than cheap mild steel.

No pics while I was trying it at the hydraulic press, but the tool I used is a simple bearing outer race with some vaseline... and then PRESS!!

Trailing arm diameter is 39mm and bearing outer race inner diameters are 40mm and 44mm (40mm is okay but 44mm not sure now, I have to check that measure...)

Once the bush is inside, next thing is get the race out cause is so small that stays with the bush... With some pliers you can get it out... Next thing to do is center the bush with the press.

Easy job! :ok

Some pics of the result.

Testing the "special tool" I used a washer over the rubber area to help the hydraulic press to distribute the pressure and also pressing in the middle of the bush , but once was finished I did too much pressure and the washer cut the rubber... In the second trying I just pressed over the metal bush in the middle... :ok

First attempt (always using some vaseline),

This is the tool... Firstly were 2 bearing races, but bigger was useless and I finally used the smaller...

And this is the spare bush I had, finally in the trailing arm!
