dipstick 1y

so finally got my 1y running after converting from 1700 ky

im trying to re use my dipstick but avin problems with it staying in,it was loose in me old engine

ive purchased new seal and washer from brickwerks but not fitting very well

can i use dipstick from 1y ?

also how much oil should my 1900 1y hold? must be more than origanal 1700 ky?

ANY HELP OR ADVICE PLEASE PEOPLE, SHUD I GLUE IT IN WILL IT SEAL IT?

4.5 Ltrs with a new filter and I had to use a bit of semi rigid nylon tube to make up the diameter of the KY dipstick to fit the 1Y and have had no problems. ( Can,t really remember now but I think I had to cut the end of the dipstick tube) ?

when you say cut the end of dipstick tube u mean cutting part of ky tube or part of 1y tube?

ive used washer and seal and has stopped the leak but dipstick still loose... can i trust this to be ok

the 1y is alot more secure

Yes,cut part of the KY tube but I honestly can,t remember why I did that. Is it that the KY tube is 6 or 7mm and the hole it goes in the 1Y is 8mm but the KY tube is swaged to an odd size so I cut it off and used the nylon tube insert 8mm nylon tube with a 7mm bore. Loads have been written on here about the dipstick and I am sure like everyone else you will end up with something that works OK. "Stick" with it mate.
