Clutch slave/fork arm (Urgent help rquired please)

Post by matt_wannabe »

Iv just replace my clutch thurst bearing and slave cylinder but im having trouble now its built up. The problem i have is that the end of the slave rod at full stretch is about an inch from the fork arm. Iv noticed that the fork arm is on splines so im thinking i need to remove the arm and turn it a few splines and refit it. But i dont know why its different because i havnt touched it so it should be in the right place in theory. Im running a ej20 engine with a 5 speed box if this info helps. I need the van out of the workshop tomorrow because the bosses are starting to moan:( so any help would be rally appreciated.

Can't really get I pic coz Iv took the gearbox out again now. Iv found the old bearing is a lot taller but the one I have tried to fit seems to be the only one listed. I'm wondering if it's been modified due to the Subaru engine??

hi yes possibly,
are youn running an adapter plate or a bellhousing for the conversion.

a pic of the old bearing?

does it look like its been modded , ie welded?

i know there are 2 types of 2.1 petrol vw clutch , early and late , but not sure what the difference is , or weather its bearing / plate differences

I was told it has a rjes bell housing when i bought it. The old bearing came off in about 5 different pieces but when iv stacked them all together the overall hight is taller than the one iv bought from the factors.

RJES bellhousing set up uses a special adapter to fit the VW release bearing which does make the whole stack taller as the scooby pressure plate is shallower than the VW one
