getting more power from my engine
Hello All I'm new here so I hope this makes sense. I have a df 1.9 engine with a solex carb, it is very reliable but does not have much power and on some hills I have to go down to 2nd gear which is not good when I am on a motorway. Is there anyway I can improve the performance without changing the engine?

Re: getting more power from my engine
have you had it compression tested to ensure that the engine is healthy?

The engine is healthy just not powerful enough I live in a hilly area and need more power to get up the hills are there any engine modifications that would help rather than putting a different engine in?

Four routes and all expensive except last one
Force more petrol through it
Fit a 2.1 or customise the stock one
Fit a more modern engine
Reduce the weight

I did this.. plug and play
plus in your case, you'll need a DG manifold and a pierburg carb. Which you can pick up at any VW show.
Should be able to get a used 2.1 for about £800.
Elite could fit you one check out their website.

Re: getting more power from my engine
I know that the dg engines produce a lot more power could I swap dg heads and carb onto a df engine?
