Fuel Pump Gaskets

Post by transporter1986 »

hi there can anyone please help with a confusing but possibly silly question. i am renewing the fuel lines on my 1986 1.9 watercooled van and have taken the fuel pump off. my question is the gasket under the fuel pump flange and the gasket under the fuel pump are different on my van however when trying to buy new ones i can only seem to get hold of the gasket in the shape of the one under the fuel flange against the engine. can i use this gasket to replace the one between the fuel pump and the fuel pump flange. it looks like it would make the seal but i dont want to mess around with fuel for obvious reasons. any help would be much appreciated. cheers

The uppermost one just has the hole for the pushrod, I guess the idea is to hold the grease in the base.

If it bothers you, pick up some gasket paper and cut your own out. You may find that the bug (type1) fuel pump gasket is easier to find on parts lists. Its much the same with one single hole in it for the top one.
