Pick up my bus tomorrow!
It's been a long time coming, but tomorrow I go to Pembroke to collect my bus. Do you think I need breakdown cover?

Re: Pick up my bus tomorrow!
My cover didn't kick in until 48 hours after I took it out so wasn't any good for my first trip.
Figured I could always wild camp for a couple of days at the side of M5 if the worst happened!

I've made a list of all the local numbers in 'Members Help', so if I do need some assistance, I'll be on the blower. But to be honest, I don't anticipate any problems. I'll take a roll of gaffer tape anyway, just in case.

Re: Pick up my bus tomorrow!
Drove 100 miles from Pembroke with no problems at all.
First impressions? It's big. We have a Peugeot 807 as a family car, and that's big, but the Syncro is much bigger, and is much more roomy inside. It runs fine - I was doing a steady 60 most of the way. I was quite pleased with the fuel consumption (about a quarter of a tank) until I realised that it's a 18.5 gallon tank! Four and half gallons works out at about 22mpg, which isn't too bad. I'm planning to fit LPG next April anyway.
I had to take a couple of goes at parking it, but I guess that'll come with practice. It tends to wander a bit in the high winds, but that's only to be expected, and my beetle does that as well. Ah, the beetle. My wife says two of the cars have to go (we now have a Peugeot 807, Ford Fiesta, 1972 Beetle, and the Syncro), so if you fancy a tatty but very solid Beetle, let me know.

.....and so it begins.....
make room on your drive for another, and space in the garage for all those 'must have' parts that seem to happen along on a regular basis. get yourself along to a syncro meet

Re: Pick up my bus tomorrow!
Bentley's manual says the fuel tank on a Syncro is 18.5 gallons, with a 2.5 gallon reserve. Could they mean US gallons?
