Anybody got power steering parts to hand?

Post by max and caddy »

I now have 2 non syncro pas connecting rods on my bench in need of shortening! Thing is I need to know how long the rod should be and measuring the one on my van turned out to be more of a task than expected....so does anyone have a syncro one they can measure for me?

At least im not having to make em longer I spose!

I think Ian has posted all the dimensions on here somewhere. If you have no luck let me know I've got easy access to mine as all bash plates etc removed at mo. Message Silverbullet for definitive answer tho

Ok, done it, chopped 60mm out and stuck a bit of bar (a punch got sacrificed) down the tube leaving a 3mm gap and chamferered the cut...welded on full power and cleaned up so i can't see the join. Fitted and measured it and it is indeed 585mm end to end. :ok

Seems strong, swung off the steering wheel on full lock and it didn't snap off!

Nice work. Are you going OE metal pipe work or rubber hoses a la Baxter?

Will be rubber as on my van, I might get Baxters offerings but I need to check how much the local pipe guys can do em at first, I also need to make a diesel fluid tank bracket up from a petrol one but that's not to much of a job really.
