Cat removal
I have a 1990 us import 2.1dj engine with a cat on, can I remove the cat or will this cause problems? I only ask because the same engine without the cat seems to be quite a bit mote powerful

Re: Cat removal
You sure it's a DJ not an MV or SS ? The DJ didn't have a Cat on them, check your engine number.

Re: Cat removal
it'll be an MV, yes you can remove the cat and fit a decat pipe but you have to weld in a lambda boss and refit the lambda (probably have to buy a new one) and it won't be any more powerful
MV is 95bhp on unleaded, DJ is only 112bhp on 4 star/superplus at 10', timed at 5' running supermarket fuel DJ is probably same power as MV, but noone will rolling road one to find out because they all want to believe it's 112
MV is digifant, DJ is Dijijet, MV is cleverer and better on LPG imho as it controls the ignition dynamically by feedback from the lambda probe

Re: Cat removal
It also has a thing called a gatkat, it baffled the mechanic apparently they're an aftermarket thing

Re: Cat removal
Nothing on google regarding your gatkat
it won't be doing anything I suspect ,as most aftermarket bolt on fuel things have the properties of snake oil.

Re: Cat removal
This is a Stainless one from Brickwerks....bit rich if all you are doing is the one part but it does have the lambda boss welded in already.
