Your battery could be flat.Check its voltage.

Not an expert on German T25 engines so here goes with some generic fault finding ideas which MAY be applicable.

Bridge across the main terminals on the starter solenoid to see if there is a fault with the solenoid or it's operating wiring. You don't need the ignition on. If the motor spins then the fault lies with the solenoid circuit. If it doesn't spin then you know the fault is motor or earthing.

To test whether it is motor or earthing, use your jump leads directly from the battery, black to engine block and red to the large input terminal to the starter motor. If it now spins, you have identified an earthing problem. If it doesn't spin, then your motor is with the angels.

Come back if you need help with potential solenoid problems.

Sounds like the small terminal on the starter motor.

Flat battery!! so much for carrying a spare battery and jump leads!

apparently it could be either a dud battery, the stereo which is permamnently on (flashing LED), or possibly the Zig unit, the "car" switch was still on, which i think means it lets the car battery charge through to the leisure battery?

i'm going to go and get the battery checked to see if it is the battery, possibly replace it.

Most of us who use our vans have the stereo and anything camping-related wired to the leisure battery. The Zig unit on 'Car' probably means that when hooked up that is the battery to which the charge will go, not when driving as that should be straight from the alternator.
