Power steering problem...help!

Power steering problem...help!
Just on with fitting a VW pas setup to my syncro sika....rack on no problems there but the rod to the bevel box appears (is) about 2" too long...vagcat is down it seems so cant check numbers etc...anybody know if the rod is syncro speicific? only thing i can think of is its a 2wd part i have and the rack is in a different spot...

Looks like my 2wd one is getting the chop! I'm surprised how much further back the rack is on the non syncro trucks.....

Myself and Ian Silverbullet have been knocking this issue about in prep for me putting a VW set up on the Doka which is 16" so not sure if this will be a different dimension again. Options for chopping are varied, have you given any thought to a preferred method?

Saw! Then I was thinking of slipping a good fitting bar inside so it's dead straight and plug welding it in at a few points....then weld round the join with mig, put it back on and test

Also, can't see a 16 being any different, same panels with extra strength bits added
