High idling and jumpy on 1st,2nd and3rd gear

Hello all!

We have an -85 with a 2.1l 112hp engine and have recently had problems with the car being very jumpy on low gears. This stops as soon as you disengage the clutch or shift into for example fourth or fifth gear. It´s hard to describe the problem but maybe some one has experienced the problem?

have you changed the gear oil in recent times, if not then drop the oil and see what the magnet has to show, this is standard advice for anything where there is a question of gearbox issues, 1st 2nd and 3rd gears all run on the pinion shaft, if the pinion bearing is worn then the shaft can move about, can move backwards and forwards under load

Ah! Great, ill try that. Thought I'd change the gearbox oil anyhow so ill start with that.
