North Wales Trip

Post by kaminokid »

Hi all,

After Camperjam we have decided to head into North Wales, have booked into Beddgelert campsite and our intention is to walk to the top of Snowdon. We would then like to explore, any suggestions would be great. Would quite like to go to Anglesey - any campsite suggestion etc...... lets hope the weather gets a bit better!! :D

Also my son is training for Triathlon and wants to practice open water swimming. Can anyone suggest any lakes/rivers etc in area that are ok to swim in.

Thanks guys

Snowdon is great to walk up, it can be quite arduous especially in bad weather so be prepared, theres five or six routes up, the easiest one being the one that follows the train track from Llanberis. Theres a cafe at the top so u can have a well earned brew aswell. theres a slate museum in llanberis which i thought was great but the missus was bored rigid :) theres also a Hydro Electric Power Station hidden inside one of the mountains there so u can tour that aswell. Betws y Coed isnt far away and thats a nice place. If your going to Anglesey u can visit Conwy Castle on the way. I would also recommend Abersoch if you get a chance to go, my favourite place. Hope you get the weather when you go :ok

We have always loved Betws y Coed and have been to the Riverside site many times, but have gone off it since it was "done up". If you like pristine hard-standing pitches with manicured shrubs, then this is the place for you. The location is superb in the centre of the village, but I preferred it when it was just a laid back, rough around the edges, turn up and pitch sort of place. Sorry, rant over......

We stayed here for one night a few weeks ago and it was lovely. Not much to walk to off site, but great for the beach and for a chill out. Fantastic views!

This was the view from our pitch...
