Radio antenna?

Post by Alison-D »

Hello!
Sorry if this sounds a bit dumb, but where is the radio antenna normally located?
Unless I am being a complete din, I can't actually see it on my van!
My fm reception is poor, and i thought i'd better check the aerial first off - before buying a new stereo.
My car's one is concealed in the rear windscreen heater, but I think that's more of a 'newer' thing!
Any ideas?? :?:

Most commonly mounted on the front 'A' pillar between the windscreen and cab door. There are ones where it's integral with the windscreen but they're not so common. Can you remove your radio and trace the cable back the other way? (presuming of course there's a cable there to trace)

You can get a windscreen aerial from Amazon for about 6 quid.

Thank you for your replies.... There is definitely nothing visible on the outside anywhere at all, and no bits where there should be an aerial but isn't (if you know what I mean) so it may well be a concealed one.
I will have to go down the tracing route after all!
Meanwhile I have ordered one of those cassette ipod adaptor thinggy's, as a temporary 'fix'!
