WOO!
Water pump now replaced!
He had to use a hydraulic press to put over 2.5 tons of force onto the bolt that had rusted into the thermostat housing before it shifted! It makes me feel better for having to call him out in the first place because there's no way I would have managed that!
Just about to go on it's first proper drive since the day I bought it!

Congratulations, it's a good feeling when it's all over isn't it ? As i mentioned before i had snapped bolts in my thermostat that i had to drill out and then a stud corroded into the pump housing that i had to free by drilling around it with the dremel and heating and chiselling away until it came free. Bled the system and added anti freeze yesterday and had our first full day out today for three weeks :D .It's funny how a simple job can turn into a nightmare because of bolts/nuts/studs that haven't been moved for many years.

It's a hell of a relief. Three weeks it's been off the road. Not been able to drive it since the day we bought it.
Just went for a small trip over to a nearby beach. It was raining so me and the missus sat in the van eating sandwiches and staring out over the sea and headed home. :)
Going to use the camper for a quick run to the tip today and then I'll be cleaning it from top to bottom ready for our first proper adventure later this week!

Hey just bought a camper yesterday and got 20 miles and broke down. Over heating issues got the man out from RAC and was then towed from norwich to Essex. Thinks it may be the thermostat?? The water is not getting to the radiator. He did a test twice for the cylinder head gascot but came out clean
Please any info on this would be really appreciated as the van is sitting on the drive and when she was going it was awesome.
Cheers

welcome to the forum
an introduction would be nice but I see your in a hurry.

It would be quicker to include you engine type in a post as not all of us can be asked to visit the garage to find out you have a 1Y diesel.
The thermostat controls the coolant flow from the radiator.
If it doesn't open the engine will over heat
Brickwerks sell good quality thermostats.

You posted this on a Water pump thread, it may not get the replies you seek
much better to start a new thread or use the search with "Thermostat" or check the wiki at the top of the page
