wot the best engine that will fit onto my 4 speed box as ive got a 2ltr ac at mo want to change for a bit mor power

Being Aircooled you're a bit limited unless you're planning on adding a radiator etc. You might be better off spending your cash on new carbs & getting your engine set-up to see if you can get near the original 70BHP output :wink:
2ltr Aircooled CU with twin Solex's & originally a 009 dizzie, but now back to standard.

2ltrs aren't slow they just use a lot of fuel going fast. Might be better to check yours is running as it should first.

not much will fit onto the box ,

how bad/ good is your mpg at the mo?

engine transplants are expensive , but can be done , but as said above how perfect is your engine /carbs /timing ect?

what is your c/0% / hc % you should know this as you have spent £ on making sure your engine is uned correctly.

if you have spent loads on making sure everything is factory set then you can progress if not may be woth doing this.

there are gas conversions / carb upgrades or even fit fuel injection as a mod to improve things?

just dont want to spend loads on new parts the engine was running when taken out just had a gasket up lift but tin ware rotten and heat exchangers gone to but pricing them up it would be cheaper buying a new engine any ideas ( with gearbox that will fit straight in )

Couldn't you fit J tubes instead of heat exchangers. The heating on an Aircooled isn't anything special. I had my heating on today on the way home from work and the themometer probe I had stuffed down the windscreen vent got to 42'C after 15 miles.

Tinware is a bit more critical but you should be able to find some via a breaker?

wont be cheap but you would be better off rebuilding the standard engine to 2400 cc and a set of decent carbs then it will have decent power to pull a heavy t3 van if you want to stay Aircooled you could also fit a corvair or even a porsche engine if your pockets are deep enough then boxy you will have a decent heater without going watercooled ,
