Heating

Post by KarenLeo »

We have 1981 2 litre Aircooled, the last owner took off the heater exchangers. We have replaced these, the mechanic we used has bodged up a temporary fix so we have heating all the time.

We need to put on the heater pods, then where does all the pipe work go. there is a large black pipe that runs down the centre of the bus, how do you get from the heater pods to join with this centre pipe.

Does anyone have a diagram or photos of how this is supposed to be.

Any help gratefully received

Karen

The ducting from the pods joins the large ducting to the front just in front of the rear wheel arch on the left hand side.

Should there be a y piece or a collector box to join them up. our main ducting has been cut off so hard to tell.

Does any one have a photo and sizes for the Y-piece on the heater system. Seems that they are as rare as rocking horse poo.

If we have sizes and a picture we can make something.

I've just tried taking some photos but they're not that clear.

This one is taken looking up and shows the flexi-ducting that joins the left-hand riser pipe to the "junction" box

This one is taken looking throught the left-hand wheel arch showing where the right hand duct meet the junction box.

I did a quick google and this looks like one of the parts? Maybe an e-mail to them might turn up the rest?

Just came across this on fleebay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VW-T25-WARM-A ... _500wt_922" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
He's just scrapped an Aircooled so might be worth an email to see if he has the parts you need :D

the above is for behind the dash.

minibuses had this below the handbrake lever , pointing to the rear,
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/230801991474? ... 1560.l2649" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

and this is what joins the 2 heat exchanger pods too the front/rear main tube under the van

they break easily on the joins , but can be rejoind with various methods!

i am sure i still have this , although will be very awkward to post .
but can deliver to a show soon?

worth mentioning tho that if you fit all these parts and your cables are seized/ broken( very common) then you still wont be able to switch your heating on/off - so also check these so you know total costs ect!
