So how long ago was the rebuild, clipped a piston ring when rebuilt or just age related failure?

Must be getting bored if you are stripping engines, surely you can't have run out of vans to rebuild

well the rubber connector joining the manifold together was split and a daubing of silicone applied over it, dont help matters but not the cause of the woesmm

So the weak mixture has eaten the piston and caused it to overheat.....so the connector was probably the cause don't you think?

Weak mixture doing that in 900 miles? Sounds a bit extreme - if that were the case I think I will stick to Wassers, much more robust
