Is it possable to change the ignition switch (the electric bit) with out removing the steering wheel and indicator switchs. Thanks Simon C.

Nope......for reasons of security VW decided to make it a little more dificult than that...... :?

They located the one retaining screw at an angle so it couldn't be accessed without the ignition sleave (aluminium casting) being removed.

I've got a replacement ignition switch I need to fit tonight - how do I take the steering wheel off?

That sounds blimmin scary to me - any advice appreciated!

The steering wheel is the easy bit.....pretty sure there is a full writeup in the WIKI.

About 40 minutes job the first time.

I've printed out the wiki. Not sure about 'full' lol.
Am very nervous but as breakdown already called I can't call them again.
I suppose I can if I stuff up removing the steering wheel tho hahah

It was going so well till my socket set ran out at 22mm and I can't get the steering wheel off.

How I'm chortling now :-)
