Mine does between 16mpg around town & just over 20mpg on a run. Check your tyre pressure, drive with a light right foot and save up for an LPG conversion.
2ltr Aircooled CU with twin Solex's & originally a 009 dizzie, but now back to standard.

bin the auto chokes and upjet the carbs and have the carbs set up properly on a rolling road, also set the ignition to factory settings then you should then get 25/30 mpg on a run if you dont exceed 60mph on the motorway , short journeys and around town the fuel consumption will be terrible you just have to live with it

Sounds about right. Drive it with plimsoles on and make sure you have it well serviced and timing checked, tyres correctly inflated etc. Only other alternative is to get an LPG conversion but you need to do a lot of miles to make it pay.

Yep and if it has a no-vac dizzy like a 009, ditch it as the power curve of a 009 does not match the engine - or any V-dub for that matter. All the above is sound advice.
