westy hightop headliner

Post by garyharbord »

Hi all had a leak in roof vent and need to reseal and replace rear headliner. Any ideas where i could source one from or could i replace with 3mm hardboard or similar. Also do they just pop out or has it got clips/screws holding it up. Its a 83 westy hightop.

Cheers
Gary

Hi Gary

Had to undertake the same job on our Joker hightop, used 3mm ply cut to shape using the original boards as a template.

From memory the original boards should pop out once the skylights and the front curtain rail are removed, fitting is pretty easy too, although I also had to replace the battons around the skylights on mine as they were rotten.

If you skylights are like mine than you should expect to reseal these as part of the job, the inside of the skylights is screwed up to pull down the exterior forming a sandwich around the roof, the sealant on mine was shot.

Gowestie stocks a covering that is very similar to the original but the postage costs are very high, I have left these as bare ply for now, they don't look too bad at all and they will probably stay this way. :ok
