So today we have finally made the templates for the windows. We have realised though that we can't use magnets on the front windscreen

I think we will have to resort to sucker caps - however I am worried about how to attach them and also them worrying about them ripping the thermo wrap and fabric - does anyone have any good ideas how I can overcome this????

What about sticky back velcro on the doors and sewn on velcro on the mats?

I thought that too - but hubby has a thing about velcro - not sure why he hasn't any hair to stick to it

Ok so finally getting round to making them! I have walked away though for a while as getting very frustrated! it has all changed now and it is now blackout material with a thick cotton outer and suckker caps! we have decided that we want to easily pop them in the washing machine. I also want them to pack away as small as possible.
I know everyone will prob think we are silly by not using thermal materials but we get too hot in the van as it is!.

I thought the idea was to keep heat in but relect external heat away. You should trim em in a funky fabric if you are doing that.

Trying so hard to get Martin to agree to zebra print but not getting anywhere. Got lots of red and white checked material so i'll probably be using that

I have just stiched the first one, I have managed to conceal a flap so that I could always slot a thermal layer in if we feel the need at a later date

Got my new pop top insulation from Franchers a couple of weeks ago. I have had one chance since then to give it a try-out. It does what it is suppose to do, I went camping and the weather was a mixed bag of sun and rain and cool temps. I used the insulation with my Go Westy Rain Fly as well as my thermal blankets. The inside of the Westy stayed dry and warm. Here is some pics of the insulation and my camp site.

I would have thought the insulation being placed inside the canvas would have compromised the water resistance of the canvas, I had it drilled into me from young not to touch the sides. http://www.vwbusshop.de/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; do a thermal blanket thing, but that fastens on the outside.

I assume the insulation must sit away from the canvas?

- have washed the canvas with mild detergent and applied silicone to it, so it won't leak. The insulation does touch the canvas but it also will not make it leak. Franchers have made the exterior insulation but not any more.
