Bleeding the system

Ok,
So probably on wiki and other forums but still unable to find link. Drain link not a page on wiki

Having had to do a roadside repair to split coolant pipe 120 miles from home, I lost some coolant in process so just had to top up with bog standard coolant from the nearest garage just to get home.

Now home I want to drain whats in the system. I've read numerous posts etc on how to fill the system properly, but unable to find out how to drain whats in. Read somewhere that not to drain from plug on cylinder head as could break, read somewhere to release a coolant pipe and flush out with hose, but which pipe?

Help please, even if just a link or two. Never drained or filled up with coolant before but reading numerous links and books, just need to drain it first.

Also due to time constraints, if I drain it, would it be ok to stand for a day or two before filling it up?

Shouldn't the title be draining rather than bleeding?

Anyway...disconnect the long plastic(or steel)water pipes underneath to drain the system.
People have been know to connect up a wet vac to the pipe/pipes to suck out the water and any crud that will no doubt be in the there.

As for bleeding the system...

If anyone suggests using a jack to raise the front or rear of the van ask them if they jack the front or rear of their house up to bleed the radiators.

I found this link at the bottom of the Wiki page about not mixing antifreeze types especially the the blue stuff with the VW pink stuff

About half way down there are instructions on how to drain your system (without removing core plugs)

No mention of a T25 on there...just a 4 cylinder VW from 1997 onwards.

Useful point on there about completely flushing the system though.

Thanks. The brick yard section assumes that the system is already empty and does not state how to drain the system.

Yes, also noticed that the T25 is not mentioned in Blauparts

WHS, its the lowest point on the system and or the pipes that that connect to base of rad!!!!

Lol. Sorry, it's me getting confused between bleeding and draining.
Bleed radiators in the house often enough, should know what it means.
