Need a new Kettle
Can anyone recommend a decent kettle for the van. The on I bought last year leave a foul metallic taste in the brew. I dont mind paying a bit more if it means the kettle will last, Cheers
oh and I want it to have a decent whistle

Re: Need a new Kettle
we had an aluminium one and wife always complained about taste (I dont do tea/coffee coz the government put things in them to pacify the general population
fact: only 0.01% of people identified as London rioters had drunk tea/coffee in the 30 days prior to them starting) and apparently stainless steel is the way to go

Wouldn't it be easier to add it to the water supply?

it causes a visual reaction with the other chemicals they already add to that. It was tried in the late 70's but people got suss when their water was green...and got even harder when all the smart alecs began to only drink bottled water in the 90's...it now has government sanctioned additives - i cant state what they are as it may trigger alarms at GCHQ and me and anyone else who has read this thread would be likely to get a rude awakening by men in black helicopters at 3am

Re: Need a new Kettle
My current metal tasting kettle is in fact stainless steel. Its deffo the kettle thats causing the taste as Ive tried varous other pans for boiling the water and various cups – they are all fine.

Re: Need a new Kettle
I use one of these.

You need a hook up or an inverter to power it, but it works well in the van.
E D I T: I spotted these on ebay - they're both 12 volt.
item numbers : 390418185759 and 280652017010
You even get a couple of cups with them.

No, but it switches itself off once it boils the water, so it doesn't need to whistle as the kettle won't boil dry if it's off, unlike one that's heated by gas.

I wonder what percentage of the London rioters owned a T25? Hooligans, the lot of 'em.

Re: Need a new Kettle
Hi
I am thinking about buying the stainless steel one that Halfords sell for £13-99p. Our present aluminium one takes ages to boil.
On our last trip when boiling water in the kettle and a copper bottomed stainless steel saucepan (lid on) at the same time the water boiled much quicker in the saucepan. The saucepan held 50% more water than the kettle.
Why??????? Copper bottom? Larger base area on saucepan? Stainless steel contains the heat more than aluminium?
Any ideas?
Don

Re: Need a new Kettle
Saw one in Aldi (hob type) yesterday, about a tenner I think, stainless steel and whistle.
Are we going on anything else?
