Rear Seat Belt Mounts?

Post by Bilson »

Just wondering if these are seat belt mounts and if not if they can be used? They seem to be M10, when all other threads seem to be M12.

I've got an adjustable 3 point seatbelt (not on a recoiling roll thing). Thought it would be better than simply having a lap belt.

ok, cheers, do you know of any reason why it might not be wise for it to be used as a seat belt mount?

A fool might also drill a hole in the interior panel first before checking for a response, now to descide whether I'll be answering the question, why's there a whole there, or what's that bolt for?

I assume what I'm after is near the bottom corner of the rear window?

I told you what it was for in my first reply.
in velles/minibuses etc that have a full width rear seat , well this seat can fold flat and to locate it there is a pin on either siide , this pin screws into the bracket you show, and on the seat there is a catch ,, foillow :rofl
an one time your van was a multi seat peolple shifter....
brikyard amongst others sell a mounting plate that is up to the job , search wiki for info,on fitting, best way is to drill a good clearance hole for the belt bolt and say 4 x 5/16" holes and locate plate behind panal and puddle weld through, strongest way to do it , welds meely hold the plate in place as the fact that they are behind the panal gives them all the security they need

I understood what it was for, just explaining I now have a choice of leaving the hole that I eagerly made in the interior panel, or a bolt in it as a talking point. I can just as easily cut and cover a new panel anyway. Either way, thanks for the advice, I had thought there may have been mounts somewhere already in the van, looks like it's back to the lap belts untill I get hold of a welder.

your van was obviously a window version from factory , which means you SHOULD have belt mounts fitted.

the ones under the seat will have plastic plugs in.
look inside the rear grills at the back of outside of the van , if you look hard enough you will see the upper bely mounts! you can feel them inside once you know where to look.
look below the side of the rear seat , this is where the outer side belt lower mounts go.

factory reel seat belts have the reel fitted inside the rear lower panel , but you wont see any fittings

cheers billy739 + trucker, all makes sense now, however couldn't I still use the 3 point belt (without inertia reel) I've got bolted where the shoulder loop would be attatched? (3rd pic down)

If I'm going to pay for a new proper belt with reel etc, I'd probably buy and install the bracket from brickwerks.

For now the one I've got will do, it will be an improvement on a lap belt anyway.

The problem I have though when it comes to fitting a reel, is the way brickwerks shows it being installed wouldn't work for me, as the photo at the top of this thread shows, I've got a bit of trim that the interior panels sit in, so I'd need to make a hole in the panels + find some kind of trim to fit and pass the belt through. I'll cross that one when I get to it though.
