Tell me about it, but needs must. The 20 year old under seal was starting to wear out, and i was starting to see the factory paint, so I knew it was time to re-protect the under side of my Syncro.

I much prefer schutz from a gun than brush applied stuff any day. Still seems to take ages to harden off though, there's always a job to do the day after it's gone on and you and up covered again...

Re: Meet Flintstone, our 1992 1.9 Petrol Caravelle Syncro
For anyone following my progress on Flint, just in case you have not heard or read, he was stolen the other night. Thread on theft here..
https://club8090.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=103308" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
There are photos in the above thread with details about the thief being caught very quickly.
Evaluation on damage was carried out yesterday, and he is being collected this week, and will spend 4 to 5 days at the local accident repair garage getting fixed, and resprayed.

Re: Meet Flintstone, our 1992 1.9 Petrol Caravelle Syncro
As mentioned in my stolen thread, Flint has now been collected, and is being fixed. Had a call from garage earlier to say that the starter motor is fried, and will need replacing, which I agreed, and the additional costs also agreed with the garage.
Miss him already lol. Well at least now he's in good hands, and will be back in my care in about a week as good as new.

Re: Meet Flintstone, our 1992 1.9 Petrol Caravelle Syncro
And Flint is back with us! Yay!
Everything done, Im happy with apart from the steering lock, as although new parts fitted, it's currently not engaging, and still allows steering wheel to be turned. Still no first position on key
All the bodywork repairs Im happy with, and even the new rear wheel arch has been finished off in the lovely blue.
First photo of damaged side panel repair work..

Next photo is of the arch that was replaced last fall. Now nice and blue..

And finally the rear lower panel which was bent inwards. Still rusty. but thats a job for me to do

So, overall, 9 days for insurance to pay up from date of claim. Just over a week to get all work done on Flint to get back into shape.
As said, the only thing that needs rectifying is the steering lock, as currently its not engaging, and I can feel something through the steering wheel when driving, and turning a 45 degree turn as if something is not quite right. I have been told, new parts have been fitted to the steering lock, and it may just be that they have not yet bedded in?
Anyone familiar with steering locks on our T25's?

There are some photos earlier in the thread my friend. It's still a stock 7 seater, and I plan on keeping it that way as its a shame to convert to camper, so will simply had a few modcons such as removable kitchen pod etc, and replace the rear bench for a matching R&R Bed.

Re: Meet Flintstone, our 1992 1.9 Petrol Caravelle Syncro
Today I put the rear up on my car ramps to temp fix the leaky exhaust. Managed to sort that out ok, then whilst underneath I noticed a two pin shielded female plug with no home to go to. Turns out that the garage who fitted the new Bosch starter motor had failed to re-plug the reversing light switch plug.
I plugged it back in, was quite tricky to get to, but still have no reversing lights. So looks like I ethier need a new switch, or renew the wiring, as its quite brittle.
Whilst moving this wiring about, I accidentally pulled off a wire to my starter motor, which resulted in me being unable to start the engine. Managed to reconnect the spade to starter, and now AOK, and now starts fine, although, this particular spade connection is somewhat loose, so need to somehow make the connection more sure.

Not a great update, but bought some Coach Bolts for when I refurbish my bumpers, and fit new end caps

Oh and invested in a brand new Left Hand Drive Large Disklok. The illustration on the box is of a RHD version, but I have the LHD model. Will update a photo of it actually fitted at some point.

Wheel arch number three completed today with underseal.
One to go, then onto the floor.
Ordered some L Shaped wind deflectors recently too, so looking forward to those arriving, and fitting them

Wheel arch number 4 completed with underseal today. I got soaked half way through due to torrential rain, but all done now, and happy.

Re: Meet Flintstone, our 1992 1.9 Petrol Caravelle Syncro
Sun was shining today so went out at 9am, and started work on the underside of Flint. Main focus on the front and rear suspension arms. Wire brushed, and am happy to report all components are very solid with only surface rust, which has now been removed.
Here's several photos of todays work. After wire brushing, I used a special metal protection paint, 3 coats.
Wire brushed everything down...

First coating...

Other side...

Engine bar wire brushed, and painted... (Yes, I know my exhaust is past it's prime. Will soon be replaced with a stainless system.

View of rear swing arm with wheel fitted...

Tinware painted...

This is why you may of seen my thread in Syncro section asking for suspension kit advice....

I have temp fixed the above hole in the hope it makes it through it's test next week. I also have noticed that the both rear shocks are leaking.
