Air cooled temp guage

Post by dandan1234 »

Hi just got a t25 2.0 air cooled. The temp guage doesn't work but the warning light flashes several times when the ignition is swithched on so I guess that works.

Where is the sender located on the air cooled? I guess it's a common problem as I have read that some are fitted with an aftermarket sender fitted in the dipstick tube.

Any help appreciated.
Thanks Dan

Aircoolers weren't fitted with a gauge as standard as there is not a meaningful way of measuring the temperature which wildly fluctuates dependant on ambient air temperature.

I have a dip stick guage. It was already fitted when i got it but the probe was missing. I treated myself to one last week from JK for £49 with pandp and is now working. I am reading 120 *C on a run!! trying to find out what it should read.
If in doubt give it a clout!

I did wonder if it was fitted with one as standard. Does it have an overheat warning then? ( the red flashing light above the guage? )

No it is just a temp guage that is mounted into the dash next to the air blower controlls. Air cooled didnt come with any guages as standard. They are all after market addons. Steve 80/90 told me that today as I was trying to find out what a ''NORMAL'' working temp should be as mine reeds 120*C ! and the best way to tell if it is over heating it to lookout for a drop in power and a backfire!! Guages arnt very acurate. :ok

Must have a watercooled dash fitted. Only has one grill on the front panel.
