Hi,
I'm about to fit a new kitchen unit in my van and I'm being hampered by the placement of the inertia reel of the front seat belt which is about a foot above the floor pan. Can these be moved higher up? I'm not sure how I'd get access to fit a spreader plate.
seem to recall seeing a van or two with a dural plate bolted on and the reel some 9" higher up
will post up if i find it.
cant you adapt the end of the un it to allow fitment

Ah, Quite i just recalled who's van it is, I will give them a shout to get a picky taken and post it up , may take till later this eve though, and i coulkd prob get one made tomoz and posted,

So, does it attach to the first fixing at the bottom and the second fixing at the top? You're then free to put your inertia and second point of the belt, anywhere along the plate. Is that how it works?
I make no comment , it isnt mine.. but providing the alloy plate is also pegged to hold it in this position then it will and does work fine,
the reel is fitted to the top of the 'plate' the nbelt then continues up through the top bracket as per normal,
this way all the load on the reel is in onne plane, vertical as original.
it has had a good test with a decent collision and worked as it should have, as an aside I have no idea why it was done as nothing is in the way of the original fixing point

I think I'm going to look into whether I can make a hole higher up the side of the pillar and secure the inertia reel up there with a spreader plate. Any reason why this couldn't or shouldn't be done. MOT etc??
