Im well over €20,000 at this stage on my red Multivan ...... incl postage !!
I just had a very nasty surprise from my gearbox! Before anyone says anything it has nothing to do with the TDI.
The rebuild cost on that alone would buy a pretty nice family car. Still it is better to find this out whilst on Aidan's bench rather than hundreds or thousands of miles from home.
pretty much the only thing on my van that isn`t new is the engine.
and guess whats failed.
you dont have to invest loads of money to have fun in a syncro a reasonable investment will see you right but these vehicles excell in the fact that they are extremely competent vehicles and its very easy to get sucked in to the " must make as good as new OR better than new " idea.
personally if knew my syncro had a fault that was waiting to play up i`d feel a fraud driving it.

spill the beans then, we all like a horror story
Only joking....... mine cost a fortune too. Just the longer gears and oiling plates cost north of £800. Like's been said though, what other vehicle gives you the same amount of freedom?

On average you are looking at £5000 to £10000 for a good one.(most a mean good as ok/good not amazing)
In germany a little cheaper £2500 to £6000 i saw a nice one on mobile.de for £3700.
Just depends on what you are willing to compromise on.
I'd sell mine but not for less than £18k. Just back from the paint shop (a proper paint shop) Looks amazing. Galvanised, VR6 very useable (better than a westy) interior. Don't want to sell it but would sell it because I just don't get to use it anymore.
Cheers
Rob.
You only live once, but if you work it right, once is enough.
1987 2.9 litre VR6 powered Syncro - Westy wannabe.
