Hi
It's been a while since I visited the forum as the van is off the road for the time being (carb problems - but that's adifferent story).
I have been trying to track down an annoying leak that forms a puddle in the drivers door step after heavy rain. I evan took the dash apart trying to locate a leak from either the windscreen or if water was coming down the A post from the high top - but no joy.
I think now it might be coming from the door itself and I was wondering if anyone else has had a similar problem. I suspect the water is getting past the window sealsand seeping down inside the door. I notice there is a gap between the skins at the bottom of the door for water to drain out of and this seems to be clear (the door is in good condition). It looks as if some of this water is somehow being diverted over the top of the rubber door seal right at the bottom and then gets trapped in the lower step.
I thought I would ask on the forum first before cutting a gap in an otherwise brand new seal. Any advice appreciated.
Cheers
Donald.

Re: Rain leak at drivers door
if you have a study at the door you will note that behind the rubber there are several slots which allow water to exit the door casing and run out outside of the vehicle

Re: Rain leak at drivers door
Is it possible that the rubber has been glued so that it blocks some of these slots? It seems as if the water is somehow appearing along the top edge of this part of the door seal.

The door scrapers do not stop the water getting into the door. What stops the water getting inside is the plastic membrane behind the door card. I take it you don't have one or someone has cut a hole in it for a speaker?
The 1/4 light seal also has a hole in the middle of it along the bottom which also then lets water drip down into the door

I took a lot of care to reseal around the speaker, but it might be worth checking again in case water has found a way through.
Thanks for reminding me of this.
