Rm12 fridge odd connections?

Post by monkeyboysee »

hi,

i have a 2 way electrolux fridge wich i'm going to try and fire up now i've sorted the electrics in the van. it has a 12v terminal block, but also has 2 cables comoing from the flue into a connection block. do i need to connect them in also, or are they something to do with firing up on gas?

cheers

Might be the 12v supply for electronic gas ignition unless your ignition is a push button piezo one?

iirc there are two black wires which are the heating element feed and a red or grey and a black which will be the electronic ignition

just tried it again, found the switch was U/S so wired it out. i'm getting 12v where it needs to be but no joy, so looks like a trip to the tip.

Just replace the element if it has blown. Have you tested the element for continuity?

the element you say? any ideas what that looks like, putting power to it is about my bag, but if its repairable, i'd love to sort it and keep it?

You are aware that it takes about an hour for the process to get up and running and the fridge has to be level? And it's the metal tray in the freezer compartment that actually gets cold.

As Oldie said, test the element for continuity

thanks for the reply. the element that is on the fridge at the moment isn't actually wired into anything. the two black wires from it just go to a connector block. should i be taking a 12v supply to them from the main connection?

interesting... separate elements.
I had always assumed they were one and the same.

It won't work off of 12v unless you do!

(You cannot have just one element - you would burn out a 12v one with 230v and a 230v one wouldn't heat up with 12v.)
