After an overnight charge the battery was showing 12.97v
(Didn't notice smells or boiling)
12 hours later at 12.67v

What's a Code 100 battery?

It's a code used by some manufacturers to identify the battery. Not all use it.

Well TBH 12.67volts after standing for 12 hours doesn't sound too bad. I'd like to see what that was after 2 - 3 days.

Code 100 represents a certain battery size that is low profile (just 175mm high) and fits well into the rather small VW battery box.
Batteries with this code tend to have a higher capacity (amp hour) and have better cold cranking (CCA) than the standard fitment. Usually 70ah or higher with a minimum of 630CCA so this size has lots of power in reserve.
